Future of Design (F.O.D.) is a design exhibition that explores the evolving creative industry and the growing expectation for graphic designers to be versatile across different practices. For this exhibition, I brought together 13 students whose work reflects a range of transferable skills across the field.
Through this exhibition, I encouraged designers to move beyond showcasing design alone and instead share work that felt personal to them and connected to their communities. The goal was to bring the MCAD community together with the Minneapolis music scene. This environment welcomes many people from marginalized backgrounds and creates space to express, gather, and celebrate.
For the opening night, I invited the local punk DIY band Cute Intentions to perform. Their work centers on poetry and self-written songs, and they often host benefit shows that raise funds through ticket sales. Their presence helped ground the exhibition in the same community-driven energy the show was built around.
